Harambee Community Services (HCS) uses generic transportation whenever possible to reinforce inclusion. If a client of the program is not able to safely use generic transportation, staff might be utilized to drive clients to activities depending on staff availability.

Safety First

The safety program includes having an emergency kit and vehicle tool kit available in the vehicle. Random checks are completed to ensure that the kits are intact and the vehicle is maintained in good working condition including ensuring the license and registration are current. All staff who drive participants must be at least 25 years of age, have a clean driving report from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), evidence of car insurance, valid registration and a current California Driver’s License. At hire, they must submit to a drug screen, be able to lift 75 pounds and agree to participate in DMV’s Pull Notice Program.
